The guest is James L. Nelson, or as I have known him for several years, Jim. Jim started life as a sailor man in square-riggers on the great waters. Marriage and progeny convinced him that perhaps a shorebound existence was preferable. He has written a good deal of fiction, and non-fiction as well. What we were attempting to do here was get students from the three courses I was teaching at the time to call in and discuss various issues. The most thought provoking class (I hope) was one titled Social Constructs of Information based, at least in part, on the writings of Antonio Gramsci and his theory (or theories) of cultural hegemony.
