What we were attempting to do here was get students from the three courses I was teaching at the time to call in and discuss various issues. The most thought provoking class (I hope) was one titled Social Constructs of Information based, at least in part, on the writings of Antonio Gramsci and his theory (or theories) of cultural hegemony. The first caller was a former student of mine from Arizona, and I had put her up to making the call, fearing that unless somebody started, nobody was going to call in
